چکیده

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a cohomology theory for abelian matched pairs of Hopf algebras and to explore its relationship to Sweedler cohomology, to Singer cohomology and to extension theory. An exact sequence connecting these cohomology theories is obtained for a general abelian matched pair of Hopf algebras, generalizing those of Kac and Masuoka for matched pairs of finite groups and finite dimensional Lie algebras. The morphisms in the low degree part of this sequence are given explicitly, enabling concrete computations. In this paper we discuss various cohomology theories for Hopf algebras and their relation to extension theory. It is natural to think of building new algebraic objects from simpler structures , or to get information about the structure of complicated objects by decomposing them into simpler parts. Algebraic extension theories serve exactly that purpose, and the classification problem of such extensions is usually related to cohomology theories. In the case of Hopf algebras, extension theories are proving to be invaluable tools for the construction of new examples of Hopf algebras, as well as in the efforts to classify finite dimensional Hopf algebras. Hopf algebras, which occur for example as group algebras, as universal envelopes of Lie algebras, as algebras of representative functions on Lie groups, as coordinate algebras of algebraic groups and as Quantum groups, have many 'group like' properties. In particular, cocommutative Hopf algebras are group object in the category of cocommutative coalgebras, and are very much related to ordinary groups and Lie algebras. In fact, over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, such a Hopf algebra is a semi-direct product of a group algebra by a universal envelope of a Lie algebra, hence just a group algebra if finite dimensional (see [MM, Ca, Ko] for the connected case, [Gr1,2, Sw2] for the general case).

We construct explicit examples of weak Hopf algebras (actually face algebras in the sense of Hayashi [H]) via vacant double groupoids as explained in [AN]. To this end, we first study the Kac exact sequence for matched pairs of groupoids and show that it can be computed via group cohomology. Then we describe explicit examples of finite vacant double groupoids.

We study the geometry of manifolds carrying symplectic pairs consisting of two closed 2-forms of constant ranks, whose kernel foliations are complementary. Using a variation of the construction of Boothby and Wang we build contact-symplectic and contact pairs from symplectic pairs.

Stochastic point sets are considered that display a diffraction spectrum of mixed type, with special emphasis on explicitly computable cases together with a unified approach of reasonable generality. Several pairs of autocorrelation and diffraction measures are discussed which show a duality structure that may be viewed as analogues of the Poisson summation formula for lattice Dirac combs.

Our present information on the gluon polarisation ∆g/g is reviewed. The data from fixedtarget lepton–nucleon experiments are in context with the recent data from the RHIC polarised pp collider. The main tools to study ∆g/g in lepton–nucleon scattering are scaling violations of the g1 structure functions and longitudinal spin asymmetries in hadron production. Results from high-pT hadron pairs, i...

In this paper we investigate stable vector bundles on the complex projective plane P by means of their minimal free resolution. The fundamental background for this study is the work of Bohnhorst and Spindler [BS92] and their idea to use admissible pairs to characterize the stability of rank-n vector bundles on P and to give a stratification of the relative moduli space in constructible subsets....
